Artist Statement:
My artwork conveys a sense of domesticity. It’s incredibly personal and comes from a place of remembrance and reconciliation. I work on a relatively large scale, and it’s important to note that I use ordinary latex interior house paint as my primary painting material. This stems from the idea of a house being a home and what exactly constitutes the conventional “feeling of home”. In addition to or in place of a canvas, I often use found materials, such as old doors or windows. I also use found objects as substitutive painting utensils. These materials and tools are metaphors that question why things are not always as they seem.
